Hello! Welcome to my literacy wiki!

IMG_1047.JPG

My name is Kate and I am the Literacy coach in a preK-8 public school in Massachusetts. There are roughly 1,150 students in our diverse school! I created this wiki as a way to reach teachers and eventually parents. My hope is that we can create a community of life-long readers and writers through engaging instruction and technology!

Please feel free to browse through my pages. I hope you will find something that peaks your interest! If you would like to provide feedback, please share. You can create or respond to a discussion topic on each page.

ELA curriculum frameworks

Balanced Literacy is the model of Language Arts instruction where I teach. Please view the document below to see the components of Balanced Literacy. The current frameworks where published in March of 2011. They are aligned to the common core standards. Full implementation of these frameworks is expected by the 2012-2013 school year. Several resources can be found regarding the common core. A few are linked below:

Standards and accountability

This document provides an analysis of the revised common cores standards to the previous ELA standards.
